Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Kind of a letdown Jun 21, 2007 |
After reading such fantastic reviews on this book I HAD to order it. Yes, it was fast-paced. Yes, it was gritty. But something seemed off.
Maybe it's my automatically proof-reading brain. The language, not the foul - which there is plenty of - but the grammar "you don't gotta do that" and overuse of "yo" and "bro", etc., kept me from really feeling for the charactors - especially Miquel, who doesn't seem as deep as you would assume for a smart woman to fall madly in love with after just a few days and for her to forgive his constant transgressions and unintelligent word formations.
Or maybe it's because I've been to Vegas a few times and no, that's not what it's really like. Though, admitedly, I haven't crawled through the underbelly of the city.
Maybe had I read the review from [...] before opening the cover it would have helped. It's a good book, but be prepared, this is definitely "gritty".
The positives, it's entertaining if you get past the low IQ of the leading man. It's a quick & easy read, you definitely feel like you're in the middle of the story and there is some great laugh-out-loud humor to be found. | | | | Love in Vegas Feb 28, 2007 |
| When you're up for lustful adventure in the city of sin, let Ms. DiPlacido be your guide. She knows the gaming tables and the back room romance so well, you're bound to feel you've been there too. And when you've digested this one, you'll want to move on to her "Trattoria" as well as her short stories in such anthologies as "The Best American Erotica 2007" and "The Mammoth Book of Best New Erotic 6." | | | | It feels like I've made a trip to las vegas! I have never actually been to LasVegas, but after reading "24/7," I feel like I have made several trips to the city. And what a wild trip! All that LasVegas is known for is offered up here. There's dice rolling, blackjack, fancy cocktails, glamorous women, bright lights, music, Caesar's Palace, swimming pools, hot temperatures, and even steamier affairs of the heart at night.
Marina Martino is a young woman from the East Coast whose success at card counting and blackjack go hand in hand with her passion for the Vegas lifestyle. Every chance she gets, Marina finds herself visiting Sin City and fueling her passion. Miguel Rodriguez is a LasVegas casino dealer who meets up with Martina while both are playing blackjack. When the two find themselves attracted to each other, the sparks begin to fly.
Marina has never had a serious relationship with any boyfriend and has always thought this suited her just fine. However, Miguel's attention gets her to thinking about gambling with affairs of her heart. Marina has a friend in bartender Vince, who looks out for Marina and gives her sound advice, unlike friend and travel companion Sherri Bruno, who is considered by all who know her as high maintenance.
Marina feels herself falling hard for Miguel until unanswered questions about Miguel's past surface, and both Miguel and Marina suddenly find themselves in danger. At this point, Marina questions Miguel's true intentions toward her and wonders if he might be using Marina to rid himself of some serious financial obligations. Should Marina put all she has on the line and make a life changing bet, potentially losing everything? Should Marina just turn and walk away from it all, settling on her simple life again on the East Coast?
"24/7" is a story of a love affair with great heat and passion. Nothing is held back here. You will not forget the elevator ride or a drive in Miguel's Black Cadillac, trust me! Susan DiPlacido has done an excellent job at depicting the intensity of a game of gambling when stakes are high. I felt I was holding my breath as I read along, waiting for the outcome. "24/7" is for adults only, and I see it suited for groups of girlfriends passing it amongst themselves. The love scenes are steamy. They are so vivid; I felt I was invading another's privacy at times.
"24/7" is a story I will not soon forget. I especially enjoyed when Marina and Miguel attend good friend Sherri Bruno's LasVegas marriage ceremony. It is comical. If you pick up a copy of "24/7," prepare yourself for a jolt! What a LasVegas trip!

A hot, spicy read, Ms. DiPlacido takes the reader to on an incredible journey to Las Vegas with description so perfect that makes the reader feel as if they are walking beside Marina Martino through every page. Martino's adventures in love make for a gripping read, and one can't help but feel they know her personally. A highly recommended book! | | | | Steamy Suspense Jun 29, 2005 |
| 24/7 is the story of a card counting gambler named Marina and sexy dealer, Miguel. Marina is a young woman who believes that she is unworthy of being loved, and is on a quest to find Mr. Right in the gambling center of the universe, Las Vegas. This rollercoaster ride is filled with white hot sex and gripping suspense. It is filled with interesting characters whose lives intertwine to provide a first hand look into the life of a casino, complete with prostitutes and other seedy individuals. Not only is it a page turner, but I found myself wanting more, long after it was over. Marina and Miguel make a sizzling couple and their sizzling car accident scene as well as their elevator ride will leave you breathless. If you have ever wondered what true Las Vegas is like, you'll find it all in this novel. From beginning to end, you're in for the ride of your life! | | | Write your own review about 24/7
