Reviews - What do our customers think?
Latin Love  Oct 16, 2009
Romance anthologies are good, but they are even better when there is something fresh and new incorporated. Caliente by J.M. Jeffries, Monique Lamont, Kelley Nyrae, and Simone Harlow added a touch of Latin flair to each story.

In "Instructing Layla" by Monique Lamont, Layla has been hiding from her past and her feelings. When she gets the opportunity to try to compete against her nemesis, she has to face the one man who can help her to win. After six years of wondering what happened to Layla, will Marcelo want to help her? Or, will he deny her the way she has been denying him any contact?

Antonio, in "Wanting Mia" by Kelley Nyrae, comes looking for Mia two months after she tried to seduce him. He declined her offer, but something about her was emblazoned in his mind and he could not forget her. He returned looking for her to give him another chance. Was her ego too bruised to give him a chance now that he wanted one?

In Simone Harlow's "Julia's Second Act," Julia is agent to the most difficult clients in the entertainment industry. When Julia is assigned Matt, a new client fresh out of rehab, she sets her ground rules on keeping him from relapsing to his old ways. What she did not know was her world would turn upside down causing Matt to stare into the bottle again. Would he fall back to his old ways? Or, would the attraction between the agent and her client keep him from ruining his life completely?

In "Partners in Crime" by J.M. Jeffries, Cleo sits in jail because she went against her own rules; she did a job with a partner. When Vincent makes an offer to wipe her slate clean as long as she helps him, Cleo sees her way to freedom and out of the life of crime. However, when he tells her she has to be his partner, she thinks twice about making the same mistake that placed her in jail in the first place. Would she chance her freedom again? Or would she pretend until she is on the outside then run for her life?

Each story has the commonality of the Latin lover, but all are very different. I enjoyed them all. Nice easy reading with a touch of love making. The copy I read was an uncorrected advance reader copy. As long as the errors that were in the proof are found and corrected, Caliente will be a great read. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading about romance and interracial relationships.
