 | Best book ever Dec 28, 2009 |
| I have been hooked on the death by series ever since death by bikini. I couldnt stop reading these books. I have read them none stop in 2 hours. Since this was the last book I took it a little slower.I really hope Linda writes a nother book in this series. The way the book ends she left room for another story or not. This is the most action packed book yet. If you liked the other death by books you will love this book. It keeps yo on edge from the begging. READ THIS BOOK!!!! You will not regret it. P.S. Seth is still Romeo and Aphra (by the way pronounced Afra) is still Juliet. Ryan is still iffy to trust. | | | | Enchanting Review: Death By Denim Aug 26, 2009 |
DEATH BY DENIM LINDA GERBER Mystery YA Sleuth Speak
Rating: 4.5 Enchantments
Aphra Connolly and her mother have been living under the radar in France, all the time knowing they could be discovered by the mole and his associates at any moment. Unfortunately for them as the story kicks off, Aphra realizes they've been discovered and the two are forced on the run on to Paris. When the mole kills one of her mother's few contacts, he leaves behind a cryptic message, one that puts her and Seth in direct danger. Unwilling to do nothing, Aphra unknowingly plays straight into the mole's hands. Will she and Seth survive or will the mole get what he finally wants?
The third book in Ms. Gerber's DEATH BY series is as riveting and highly entertaining as the first two in the series. Ms. Gerber does an excellent job pulling the reader into the story, keeping them alongside Aphra as she plays the role of bait and rushes to save Seth and his family from the mole and his associates who have discovered where the family has been hiding out in Italy. The question of who Aphra can trust is relied upon heavily in the story as Ryan's behavior starts to get a little suspicious when the two are on the train for Italy which is one of my favorite parts of the book. I loved the scene where the two are being chased by the smoking man and are desperate to find a place to hide for the night. When Aphra unfortunately plays right into the mole's trap, with Seth falling in right alongside her when her life is threatened, can the two teens find a way to escape or will the mole's plan of revenge on the two families finally succeed?
What I like best about Aphra is her willingness to dive into any situation, which sometimes gets her into more trouble. The scenes where she and Seth are being held in the factory are some of my favorite parts of the book, making the reader wonder if there really is a way for the two to escape the madman that is the mole. Ms. Gerber does an excellent job turning the mole into one of the creepiest characters I've read in quite awhile and the chase scene in the factory is one that will have you holding your breath.
Readers looking for a fast paced mystery read won't go wrong picking up DEATH BY DENIM.

Aphra Connolly's life can never be normal again, not since she discovered the true nature of her mother's work and unwittingly landed herself on the hit list of a very dangerous man known as The Mold. So, she and her mom have been flying under the radar and hiding out in France, but despite their careful precautions, they are still not safe. When they discover they're being followed, they're on the run once more, but they don't get very far once Aphra's mother's Parisian contact is found drowned in the Seine. And just like that, Aphra finds herself a pawn in the midst of another deadly plot involving The Mole and the boy of her dreams, Seth Mulo. But this girl isn't just another pawn in this sick game; she's a player, sick and tired of being threatened. And she's not leaving without a fight.
Gerber does not disappoint with this exciting novel from her Death by... series. Gerber's strength is by far in creating such a thrilling and fast paced plot that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. There are even the spies, sleeper cells, and dangerous thugs, everyone with mixed up identities, to keep thigs fresh, interesting, and unpredictable. While I appreciate Aphra's quick thinking and resourcefulness, I also feel the character development could've been better. The reader barely gets to know certain characters because the story moves along so quickly. But despite that, Death by Denim is a wholly enjoyable read, full of action, romance, and international flair. Action packed and suspenseful, Death by Denim wraps Gerber's Death by... series into a trilogy while still leaving room for an offshoot continuation.
Fans of Death by Bikini and Death by Latte by Linda Gerber, the earlier installments in this series, won't want to miss Death by Denim. Teen girls in particular looking for a fast and fun mystery to devour will enjoy Gerber's Death by... series. | | | | Back in Action May 17, 2009 |
After I finished the second book in Linda Gerber's series, Death by Latte, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Death By Denim. I'm a big fan of the series and I'm so glad that I got to read the book as quickly as I did.
Aphra is back and she's on the run with her mother, this time in France. This book has action, dynamite, a few steamy scenes, and a whole lot of . . . well, awesomeness. My only issue with the book - it was too short. Don't get me wrong. It was no shorter than either of the other books, but I was just wanting MORE.
I will definitely be waiting for a fourth book. The overall arc of these three novels seemed to be wrapped up, but she definitely left room for another book in the future. | | | | The Story Siren Reviews: May 17, 2009 |
Another exciting and stimulating installment of the Death by... series! These novels are jam packed and quick paced! I think that is why I find them so enjoyable.
I think this was my favorite novel of the series! This installment has even more action than the others, if that's even possible. Gerber was able to keep her signature style fresh and unpredictable as always!
There are a few steamy scenes between Aphra and Seth... well one scene in particular really stands out. I can only image in would be awfully hard to make-out while handcuffed! This novel as well as the entire series is full of action, adventure, romance and suspense!
Death by Denim wraps up the series exceptionally well, but still leaves a possibility for future novels.
