 | Very good Feb 6, 2010 |
| The book quality was very good and I am satisfied with my purchase. However the shipping took way too long (2 weeks) and thats why I gave it 4 stars. Overall very good. | | | | Not too bad. Jan 22, 2010 |
| When I got my book in the mail the package was almost ripped open all of the way. I do not, however, blame this on the seller. I wish that the postal service had respect for our packages. The book considering how it arrived was in pretty good condition. No writing or rips/tears as stated. If this seller has books that I need in the future I will use them first. | | | | Eh Dec 28, 2009 |
| My professor required this book, didn't read it, not organized very well, boring to read. | | | | Feedback on purchase Aug 19, 2009 |
| I received the book very quickly. It looks brand new. I will definitely check this site when I need other books. | | | | Naive', unresearched and bias Aug 7, 2009 |
| This book is fraught with nauseating condescension under the guise of academic objectivity. The subtle suggestions and overt disrespect throughout chapters have led me to question whether there was respect given to the religions within this book. I assume they would be equally offended by the authors off-hand disregard for the tenants and nuances of faith. It would be far less offensive to just walk up and kick me in the groin then tell me Elijah was emulating Canaanites, or that as a modern Christian I would be embarrassed explaining the miracles of Christ! I had to stop reading. I hope this book is new to the curriculum and will be thrown out next year after review. Educators should be beyond this. I am taking a psychology class and the subject of ESP came up. "We have all had experiences that we can't explain. We just cannot duplicate them in the lab therefore it scientifically does not exist. This of course does not mean that it will not be proved wrong later simply due to our collective experience." I found myself wishing I could find that wide a berth in the study of FAITH of all things. In the absence of historical information any respectable author should not speculate that those practicing the faith are ill advised, instead, the author should respect the values and beliefs of religions as they are practiced. Lastly, if I were writing a textbook, let's say on Chemistry, which is nowhere near as intimate or personal as faith, and those that practiced chemistry everyday were offended and appalled upon reading my textbook, maybe I should consider a rewrite or better yet, write about a subject I actually respect. | | | Write your own review about Religions of the World (11th Edition)
