Product Description

Millions of dollars are spent each year on weight-loss products, mostly the result of futile attempts to correct an underlying and misunderstood problem: food addiction.

Since beginning her own recovery from food addiction in 1977, Sheppard has helped thousands of people live healthy lives by following her comprehensive program. The crux the program's success is the Recovery Food Plan, which effectively eliminates cravings for sugar, carbohydrates, caffeine and personal trigger foods, which not only add unwanted pounds, they literally wreak havoc in the body.

Food Addiction: Healing Day by Day appropriately begins on January 1, a time when most people are looking to shed unwanted holiday pounds and begin a healthier lifestyle. Each daily entry includes an affirmation for readers to focus on as well as a point of reflection, and offers an insightful message from Sheppard as someone who's "been there", helping them to:

  • Overcome emotional barriers to recovery
  • Avoid people who sabotage recovery efforts
  • Recognize and prevent relapse
  • Stay motivated, especially during challenging times

At the end of each week, Sheppard poses thought-provoking questions to ensure that readers stay honest to the plan, keep their emotions in check, and avoid destructive behaviors. Sprinkled throughout are helpful "stress busters" and real-world tips to help readers achieve success.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
life changing  Aug 10, 2009
If you think you have a problem, you probably do. No matter what your health concerns are, this 'food plan' is an excellent place to start. Really, really promotes a healthy balanced way to eat, so permanent change is possible.
Believe it, you can eat better to feel better!

Helpful!  Apr 25, 2009
Not quite what I was looking for but is apparently one of the better books on food addiction...

It pays to be reminded on a daily basis  Apr 1, 2009
This has become on of my daily readers before I do my meditation. The original book where some of these are taken, called "The Body Knows" is surperb, but this volume is medichore.

My Favorite Dail Reading Book  Aug 23, 2008
This is my favorite daily affirmation book. This book has an excellent combination topics. I really like the reminders of the basic "blocking and tackling" needed keep food clean according to her food plan. I also like her reminders on how to deal with life's challenges. I have used many different daily reading books and this is hands down my favorite.

Too 'Workbook-y'  Jul 16, 2006
If you want to really work on your recovery this is a great book. Of course recovery involves tremendous work, but I prefer meditation books to aid in spiritual connection via quiet prayer. This has passages that suggests tasks to the reader.
Having been in recovery for many years, I can say this book is from an expert in the field and the information provided invaluable. People new to recovery from food addiction ought seek out a sponsor before buying this book. Use of this alone is not recommened even for the 'oldtimers'
It's too distracting for me to consult when taking the time to meditate.
