Product Description
At Home Entertaining is a comprehensive guide to hosting parties with style, panache, confidence, and ease. A menu cookbook and party planner, it offers forty-six complete party plans and more than 250 recipes. Included are parties for two, laid-back gatherings for six, guilt-free parties for eight, or really fussy festivities for a crowd. Each of the parties outlined in this book comes complete with an easy-to-follow party plan that addresses every aspect of hosting a fun-filled event. Included with each party are such topics as party backdrop, party mood, over-the-top suggestions, shortcuts, place settings, and a party organizing countdown. Separate topical chapters such as "What Every Host Should Know," "Shaping Your Party," and "How to Partee at Your Party" give the reader insider tips on how to be a relaxed and self-assured host. With names like "Fondue for Four on the Floor," "Tapas Time," "Almost a Pig Roast," "Sparkling Spa Teen Sleepover," "Monthly Supper Club," "Sunset Picnic Supper," and "Howling at the Moon Buffet," each party is unique, fun, and intriguing. At Home Entertaining offers the same kind of practical information for the busy cook that are characteristic of the author's popular cookbook, At Home in the Kitchen: The Art of Preparing the Foods You Love to Eat, with tips on ingredient substitutions, cooking methods, and food presentation.

Great for Taste of Home Entertaining  Jul 6, 2006
In a time when people are entertaining in their own home more and more this is a great reference to have at hand. I purchased it when I joined Taste of Home Entertaining as a consultant. And now as I recruit new consultants and hold parties I can use books like this as consultant and hostess gifts. The recipes are mostly simple using ingredients that you can easily find in your grocery store.

SUPER BAD! DON'T BUY!  Apr 28, 2006
Bad paper, no picture at all, taste bad, too much ingridients. I just threw it away, didn't even wanna give it away to someone I know. Big disappointment. But Colin Cowie book for great recipes and nice touch party arrangement. No regret!

Home Entertaining  Jan 16, 2006
For the person who likes to entertain, this book is great. Home Entertaining is a great way to meet people and build relationships. There is actually a new party plan company call Taste of Home Entertaining that launches in May. As a person who likes to entertain and make money, this is a great way to combine the two hobbies and get into the company at the ground level.

Poor editing & bland content  Nov 5, 2003
Numerous spelling mistakes (ie: potato for tomato!) and party ideas that have already been explored in other books make this one to pass on. For better insight, color photos, and fresh ideas, try Colin Cowie's Effortless Elegance or Nicole Aloni's Secrets from a Caterer's Kitchen.

Planning parties from showers to formal dinners made easier  May 11, 2003
As one of the recipe testers, I really enjoyed being a part of putting this wonderful cookbook together. My friends loved receiving it as a gift and my mother even though she doesn't have big parties or dinners anymore enjoys sharing this cookbook with her friends. One of the things I like about it the most, is the many seafood recipes offered.
