| At first, the book seemed like a letdown. I wanted a Christian author to tell me specifically what to do to ensure that I don't waste my life, like a list of disciplines, or rules. This was a deep, passionate plea to die to self and surrender my life totally to Christ, to be, as Piper says, "a corpse to the world." I find that this book challenges us to throw off any weight that hinders us from wasting our life. Piper is one of the best authors, a true voice in the wilderness of pleasure, self seeking , and materialism, even among christians.
