FUNNY.
OUTRAGEOUS.
TRUE!
Glenn Beck, is the author of numerous political books including Glenn Becks Common Sense, as well as a heartwarming childrens book The Christmas Sweater: A Picture Book. In An Inconvenient Book Beck is at his finest.
Have you ever wondered why some of the biggest problems we face, from illegal immigration to global warming to poverty, never seem to get fixed? The reason is simple: the solutions just aren't very convenient. Fortunately, radio and television host Glenn Beck doesn't care much about convenience; he cares about common sense.
Take the issue of poverty, for example. Over the last forty years, America's ten poorest cities all had one simple thing in common, but self-serving politicians will never tell you what that is (or explain how easy it would be to change): Glenn Beck will (see chapter 20).
Global warming is another issue that's ripe with lies and distortion. How many times have you heard that carbon dioxide is responsible for huge natural disasters that have killed millions of people? The truth is, it's actually the other way around: as CO2 has increased, deaths from extreme weather have decreased. Bet you'll never see that in an Al Gore slide show. An An Inconvenient Book contains hundreds of these same "why have I never heard that before?" types of facts that will leave you wondering how political correctness, special interests, and outright stupidity have gotten us so far away from the commonsense solutions this country was built on.
As the host of a nationally syndicated radio show, The Glenn Beck Program, and a prime-time television show on Fox News Network, Glenn Beck combines a refreshing level of honesty with a biting sense of humor and a LOT of research to find solutions that will open your eyes while entertaining you along the way.

 | I made the right choice by saving my frontal lobe...sorta Jan 14, 2010 |
| I was on the fence for a while over whether to actually purchase this book and read it or rather to give myself a prefrontal lobotomy. I weighed my options for a long time. While Glenn's book is under 20 dollars, I could possibly perform the lobotomy myself with some readily available tools which would save me money, but would very likely lead to some sort of infection since I doubt I would effectively sanitize. In the end I decided to buy and read the book and it did exactly as I'd hoped. Not only can I no longer effectively communicate with others or construct a well-reasoned argument, I also have difficulty keeping my saliva contained in my mouth. Job well done Glenn and I look forward to your next book which I hope will be the equivalent of dropping a gallon of Vietnam conspiracy theorist government laboratory grade LSD. | | | | An Inconvenient Book Dec 14, 2009 |
| This book contains a great deal of information that people have either forgotten, or never knew. It is definitely a must for anyone with an inquisitive mind, and would be fantastic for politicos. | | | | An inconsistent book: few real solutions Dec 11, 2009 |
I don't watch much TV (certainly not Fox News), so when I picked up this book (the audio book, to listen to in the car) at the library, I admit I had only a vague idea who Glenn Beck was. After my wife said "What? You got that?!" and I read some of the comments by others ("A book that says what people who don't think are thinking about" according to Jon Stewart), I started to get serious misgivings, before even starting to read (listen).
However, I was actually quite pleasantly surprised at the first chapter on global warming, which I thought was remarkably well-balanced and had some good points about the flaws in the policy of spending trillions to reduce carbon emissions as a way to affect the climate change. (In my opinion, this is unlikey to happen until we run out of oil, but that's a different story.) Don't believe for a moment, however, that Beck watched the Al Gore movie and spotted the fact that historically, CO2 rise generally came after temperature increase. This is not a trivial observation, cannot be gleaned from "An inconvenient truth" and Glenn Beck is most likely just parroting information from your typical right-wing global warming denier web site. Not to say that it isn't true - it's certainly possble that in the past, the CO2 curve follows the temperature curve most of the time, even if that is probably not the case today. Nevertheless, this chapter was well-researched and had some interesting insights. It was also quite funny at times.
Unfortunately, the book degenerates quickly in subsequent chapters, with one inane rant after the other on marriage, porn, poverty and all kinds of other things. (I am happy for Glenn Beck that he has found his soul mate and all that, but really, who cares?) and his so-called "solutions" ("take a second look at the one you're married to, and fall in love again?" *groan*) are superficial fluff of no utility. Ultimately, after getting off to a good start in the first chapter, the book was a disappointment. | | | | Beck's Soft Political Porn! Dec 5, 2009 |
| Why waste your scant dollars on this, just let some one scam you. They might need the money.Beck is the Pied Piper of Dumb and Dumber! | | | | Lots of Facts - Great Read!!! Dec 3, 2009 |
| This is a great read from a brilliant sexy man named Glenn Beck. This book is filled with so many facts, a very easy read. I have researched many of the facts and found them all to be true. Some people may disagree and not enjoy this book only because they don't want to believe the facts are true. Just keep an open mind when reading this book. This book is for America's benefit. This man should be President of the United States. Buy it now. | | | Write your own review about An Inconvenient Book: Real Solutions to the World's Biggest Problems
