Overview
Pastor Paul Trevelyan, in accordance to his ailing guardian's wishes, surprises his congregation by reuniting with his estranged wife Dori, an event that begins to cause friction within the church community, not to mention within Paul's house. Original.

Publishers Description
After his guardian's severe illness, pastor Paul Trevelyan returns to his congregation in Seaside with a big surprise - a wife he's been estranged from for seven years. It was the old man's ailing wish that Dori and Trev return to each other, and they agree, as long as they can sleep in separate bedrooms. The dangers of a sinister luggage mix-up are compounded by discord within the church, as a highly opinionated elder proves he will stop at nothing to see Trev gone. This blizzard of difficulties leaves just a snowball's chance of a thaw between the stubborn spouses...

Bitter winds...

After a tragedy-riddled early life, Dori MacAllister has made a quiet place for herself on the West Coast, far from the landscape of her earlier heartbreaks. When she receives word that the man who raised her is gravely ill, she is drawn back to a place full of love and longing—and betrayal.

Winds of love...

Pastor Paul Trevelyan hasn't seen the woman he loves in six years. When he's given a second chance with her, he longs to make it work this time. The trouble is, if he doesn't win her back, it could cost him his job—and his happiness.

Winds of danger...

The charming town of Seaside now has its very own crime boss, and Officer Maureen Galloway would love to be the one to make charges stick. her investigation leads to Dori MacAllister, but is Dori an accomplice or a victim? And why is pharmacist Phil Trevelyan so bent on getting in Maureen's way?

In Winter Winds, Gayle Roper concludes her delightful Seaside Seasons series with a tale of romance, crime, startling mix-ups, and a few hard hears that just might get a much-needed midwinter thaw.

Story Behind the Book

Over the years, both Gayle and her husband have been involved in the church. Chuck has been an elder for many years, Gayle has led the women's ministry, and they've both taught. They have experienced and observed the fights within a congregation. They've also witnessed believers coming alongside someone in need time after time after time. Gayle wanted to write about a church full of real people—some good, some selfish and troublemakers. She also wanted the fun of writing a marriage of convenience that turns into a love match. This story provided that opportunity.
Gayle Roper has written more than thirty-five books. Her novels have won numerous awards, including the Holt Medallion, the Reviewers’ Choice Award, and a Readers’ Choice Award. A popular speaker at nationwide women’s events and writers’ conferences, Roper lives with her husband, Chuck, in Pennsylvania. They have two sons, two daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
a happy mistake  Jun 25, 2005
I got this series by accident from my book club and put it on the shelf for a while because I really wasn't interested and was too lazy to send it back. I'd never heard of Gayle
Roper, and in general find Christian fiction to be rather weak and sometimes cheesy. However, I picked up the first book 2 weeks ago and yesterday just finished "Winter Winds", the fourth in the series. I am on this site today to see what else Gayle Roper has written that I can get my hands on quickly. Winter Winds is my favorite of the four because I was captured by the idea of a Pastor trying his very best to serve God while caught in a secret marriage and separation he had no control over. What would this do to your congregation? One of the main themes of this book is the need to clear up miscommunication and seek out people who are offended with us to determine what the problem is so that forgiveness can be offered and relationships can be restored. While these books may not qualify as great literature, they are a great read. The plots have enough twists and turns to keep you in suspense. The setting is lovely, homey and comforting. The characters are real people trying their best to live a Christian life. I have found the endings sometimes rushed and a little too convenient, but all in all a great series. I will miss Seaside, but have enjoyed turning my friends on to this set.

Winter Winds a Winner  Sep 9, 2004
Dori and Trev and the other characters in Winter Winds quickly became people I cared about--so much that I had to stay awake half the night to finish the book! Gail Roper has a winner in this book.

A Real Page Turner  Jul 20, 2004
Winter Winds kept me awake late into the night anxious to find out how it would end-just like the other Seaside Seasons books (Spring Rain, Summer Shadows, and Autumn Dreams). Like Maureen, a character in the book who loved to read Christian novels, I lost myself in the story and was able to escape for awhile to the charming town of Seaside. A must read!

Winter Winds  Jul 9, 2004
WINTER WINDS held me spellbound from the first page to the last word. The suspense and masterfully crafted plot will keep the reader running along the winter beaches of Seaside and urging the characters to look back over their shoulders. With crime frosting the air and misunderstandings from the past, Phil Trevelyan and Dori MacAllister have much to learn about love, God's forgiveness, and each other.

Great Finale to this Series  Jul 6, 2004
I need to book a ticket to Seaside. This tiny resort town on the New Jersey shore came alive under the deft storytelling of Gayle Roper. The fourth book in her Seaside Seasons series deals with marital trouble that takes on epic proportions-- a full six-year hiatus. We see Trev and Dori struggling with past hurts and stubborn pride against the backdrop of a full-blown art theft ring in which they get tangled. If you start this book, plan to read it straight through-- it's not an easy one to put down.
