Item Description... Overview Explains how today's low expectations regarding male behavior is encouraging self-centered behavior, a guide for young men invites readers to embrace a manhood that is focused on Christ in order to develop such values as courage, kindness, strength, and spiritual sensitivity.
Publishers Description In a culture that exalts the caveman-like qualities of masculinity, most women have stopped expecting anything more. Young men are taught to view women as slaves to their self-centered desires. More than ever, men need to know that they can rise above this sad mediocrity. They desperately need someone to recognize their potential for blending courage and kindness, strength and spiritual sensitivity. With its riveting vision of Christ-centered manhood, God's Gift to Women shows young men how to become the heroic, selfless knight that every woman dreams about.
Buried Inside Every Young Man Is the Potential to Change the World
Deep within the rugged soul of every young man, there is a warrior in search of his sword and a poet in search of his pen. But heroic, prince-like masculinity is something most women only dream of in today’s perverse and self-serving world.
With contagious passion and boldness, Eric Ludy challenges you to forsake modern male mediocrity for Christ-built, warrior-poet manhood—manhood that will capture the heart of a woman and change the course of history.
Eric Ludy is widely recognized as a powerful voice to his generation. As an international speaker, recording artist, and bestselling author of five books, Eric’s passion is to challenge young adults around the world to pursue a life completely devoted to Jesus Christ. | Good effort falls short... Jul 28, 2008 |
A guys' group I am in decided to read and discuss this book. One thing I have to say is that it did inspire some great discussions, but other than that, there isn't a lot of "meat" or substance to this book. It is very melodramatic at times and just plain cheesy most of the time. The few good points aren't that deep and are made in many other similar books.
The main issue our group pretty much agreed on was that it seemed Eric Ludy took his own, very specific, experiences and painted across all of "Christian manhood" with a very broad brush. He goes into the book assuming that all guys went through the same experiences he did.
Also, we felt another issue was that the book was not heavily based on the bible. Mr. Ludy has a scripture reference or two at the end of each chapter, but most of the book really seems to be based on him reading the book about William Wallace. It seemed like that changed his life more than his relationship with Jesus Christ.
Anyway, not necessarily a bad read if you can borrow the book somewhere, just don't expect some deep, thought-provoking, life-changing experience...at least in our group's opinion. | | | | Great Book Jul 26, 2008 |
| I would recommend this book to any young man. Very profound, awesome book, opens wide the perverse way society portrays sex and women, then shows the path of a warrior poet. | | | | Decent Apr 17, 2008 |
| Well written with a real heart after God. He speaks to many of the problems men face today. My complaint would be to have more references to the bible. | | | | Amazing! Dec 25, 2007 |
God's Gift to Women is not so much about how men are God's gift to women but rather how can men take up their quill and claymore and become warrior-poets both for God and for women. Eric stirs within one's life a desperate desire and passion to know intimately who Jesus is and gives a portrait of what our life should look like as men.
One of the greatest books on manhood I've ever read (I've read many). As a youth pastor this (and its feminine counterpart: Authentic Beauty... which is also amazing) was my usual gift for all students. Being a mid-20s man in the making, I have read this book nearly a dozen times and have purchased close to a hundred copies of which I have given to every young man I know. I encourage everyone to read everything by Eric and Leslie as well as check them out on their website: www.setapartlife.com | | | | The Kind of Book That Makes My Spirit Spark Dec 16, 2007 |
| God's Gift to Women is truly the kind of book that God uses to set my soul on fire. It has captivated me with the vision of what modern men could be if they followed God. Eric's vision for a warrior-poet is biblical and desirable. I cannot speak from a male perspective, but I know that godly women do truly desire the kind of Christ-built warrior-poet that Ludy describes in this book. What would the world look like if this generation of young Christian men would pursue this higher standard of a living, passionate relationship with Jesus Christ? I cannot say for sure, but I know that God's Holy Spirit would work in some marvelous ways. | | | Write your own review about God's Gift to Women: Discovering the Lost Greatness of Masculinity
