| As some other reviewers have noted, this book doesn't offer a lot of information about specific brands of products or specific recommendations for that matter. I would have liked that. And as a first-time parent, I would have appreciated more in terms of suggested lists. On the plus side, I did find a couple of helpful hints that we'll use and liked that it gives good guidance regarding what to look for in products (but I think you find comparable information through an internet search). I wish I had heard about the Baby Bargains book earlier - from what I've heard from other parents, that is more along the lines of what I needed. | | | | Very Basic Jun 23, 2008 |

| I am not a first-time mom, if I were I may have found this book more informative. I would stick to Consumer Reports Best Baby Products - then you will not only feel like you are making good choices but very responsible ones. I felt like Parenting's version was sometimes contradictory to what was safe and good for your baby. This book has nice color photos and is small and portable -- perfect for thumbing through while waiting at the doctor's office; however, it doesn't have a whole lot of information about specific brands of products. For that, I recommend the Baby Bargains book.
