10 Days in Paradise   Sep 11, 2008
Celeste McMillan is a workaholic who is forced to take a vacation after a client assaults her. She is not happy because she is trying to make partner and her company needs her there, not on a holiday.
Kanoe Anakalea is a native Hawaiian who loves his home and family. He wants nothing to do with the tourists who flood Hawaii until he meets Celeste and feels an instant attraction.

Neither Celeste nor Kanoe plan on a vacation fling, but they can't help themselves with the heat flowing between them. They both know it is just a vacation romance that has to end in 10 days. That will be enough, right?

10 Days in Paradise is a steamy hot vacation romance that turns into much more. Kanoe is so hot that I wouldn't kick him out of bed and Celeste is a misguided soul who learns a lot about herself through Kanoe. I don't think Celeste realized how unhappy she truly was until she had a chance to really look at her life. Celeste and Kanoe are great for each other and I really think they need each other to be whole.

Not only is 10 Days in Paradise a hot read, but Dawn Halliday made me want to know more about the history of Hawaii and the culture of the island. Kanoe has such passion for his home and I love how he showed Celeste the true Hawaii.

If you want a steamy hot read for the summer, 10 Days in Paradise is the book for you.

10 Days in Paradise  Apr 28, 2008
Celeste McMillan was being forced to take her first real vacation in years. After being manhandled by one of her clients at the management-consulting firm she works for, she was being forced to make herself scarce while Caleb, a senior partner tried to smooth things over without losing the client.
Celeste had let her assistant Malia plan her vacation because she had been too busy trying to make partner to take any real vacations. Malia said she knew exactly what Celeste needed, and would take care of it. She never dreamed that she would find herself in Hilo, Hawaii. Upon her arrival, she met Kanoe Anakalea, and they felt an immediate attraction for each other. They were inseparable since he had rescued her from a riptide she was caught up in. As they learned more and more about each other, the more they learned they were different. The sexual connection was intense and undeniable, but Kanoe was very family oriented, and deeply devoted to preserving his culture. Could the length of a vacation establish a true lasting bond between Celeste and Kanoe?

Celeste and Kanoe were likeable characters, and their chemistry hot, but I had a hard time buying the long-term love story. There were real issues that needed to be addressed, and they ended up being glossed over. I couldn't see Kanoe just all of a sudden letting go of the cultural issues he has his entire life overnight. His family also had a very strong negative reaction to them being together. If we were supposed to buy the love conquers all aspect of the story, then these differences between them should not have been made to be so important because there was no real resolution.
