Product Description
From professional to professional---advice and insight that improves the quality of patient care In this inspirational book, physicians, psychologists, nurses, dietiticians, and CDEs offer their personal stories and experiences in dealing with patients with diabetes. This collection of stories provide the necessary insight that challenge and change the way health professionals provide care and offer healthcare professionals a wealth of personal experiences---from fifty seasoned experts in the fields of diabetes research and education. Complementing the successful Art of Empowerment (1-58040-235-6), also published by the American Diabetes Association, 1,000 Years of Diabetes Wisdom demonstrates that knowledge can be found in literature, but wisdom is found in experience.

Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Not What I expected Mar 30, 2008 |
| I purchased this book expecting to read facts and information about the disease - instead, it was doctors writing about situations they experienced with their patients - I had to return it - it was not at all what I wanted. I didn't find it loaded with wisdom. | | | | fluff Feb 23, 2008 |
| This is a book of fluffy stories. This is the least helpful or substantative book of any I have read on diabetes. A waste of money for someone with diabetes who is looking for information | | | | ADA Killing Diabetics Feb 19, 2008 |
The ADA who published this book have been prescribing a high-carbohydrate diet plan for many, many years & this book just follows along with that. Their diet plan only provides impetus for more & more medications to bring down the blood-glucose levels that are driven up by the high-carb diet. Does it make any logical sense, since diabetes is an inability of our bodies to process blood glucose, to prescribe a diet rich in the very foods most likely to drive blood glucose up??? | | | Write your own review about 1,000 Years of Diabetes Wisdom
