Hot White Chocolate...WOW!!!  Sep 8, 2008
I have never really enjoyed reading and I am currently trying to change that! It usually takes me quite a while to complete a book of any size, however, I read "A Box of White Chocolate" in about a day and a half! I simply could not put it down...always wanting to see what happens next! It didn't turn out like I thought it would but that being said, it was a wonderful read!!! Daamon really spoke the truth on many black females...if I didn't know better, I'd think a black female actually wrote this book!!! LOL!!! He really tells it like it is....so remember single ladies, don't be a fool like Bailey was!!! What you're looking for in a man may not come in the package you expect it to...LOL!!!

Disappointed!  Aug 25, 2008
I couldn't help but to put my 2 cents in on this book. The story just dragged on and on and the female character just played herself. Not GOOD AT ALL! Would not recommend!

I thought I was stopping, but no.. over the cliff  Aug 17, 2008
I read the reviews on the this site and decided to give this book a try, I even applauded one of the reviewers who pointed out that the story was about a fool. However, I cannot stand this book, I'm sure there are some people out there like this and probably what a lot of us are used to in real life. I think where the author is missing the buck is that he's attempting to show a more real case scenario that most readers are used to. Sure many books deal with the whirlwind of racial differences and self awareness but this book just turns the main character into a whore granted I know sometimes women have moments of weakness but this is not my cup of tea. I won't be reading Daamon Speller again.

Glad I borrowed this from the library  Aug 5, 2008
This book was awful. I read about 2/3 of the book before I just skimmed the rest to find out the ending. I did not like the main character. It almost seemed as though the person who wrote this book doesn't like black women. Bailey used poor judgment - as shown in past relationships. She was forever showing her petty, shallow side - constantly talking about her butt and how she looked better in her dress than the Asian woman. I am so so so glad I borrowed this book from the library, even so the hours spent reading this book, I will never have back.

On Point!!!  Jul 3, 2008
I read all kind of books and yes there are some that I enjoy more than others. I considered this to be a well-written book about self-awareness when it comes to love and the decisions we make regarding relationships. I'm not sure if we have gotten so caught up in the typical "street literature" that we can't recognize a good book when we read one.

When I read this book, I was thoroughly engrossed in every aspect. It made me take a look at myself (being in my mid-thirties) and why I dismiss potential mates. I am very hard on men for one reason or another; whether he is not tall enough, he's too fat, not enough money or education. We are all guilty of it whether we want to admit it or not. Also, I have had someone tell me, that they like me, but the don't date lightskinned women. It's called shallow and many of us have these "hang ups" so please be real with yourself.

This book is not just about Bailey finding love in a white man, it's about people looking outside of the "box" of what they consider their ideal mate. Sometimes love is looking us in the face and we are so blind to see it.

I also think you have to be in a certain place in your life to enjoy books like "A Box of White Chocolate." I'm at a crossroad in my love life and I am constantly thinking......"which man do I choose." Maybe it's easier for some of us to find love or have most of us just settled on the closest thing to it????

As with anything, you have to read and judge for yourself. I am finding that one person's trash is another person's treasure!!!
