 | Not bad Sep 19, 2008 |
| Although there were a several things in this book that I disagreed with, the basic premise is that women (as well as men) need to be exposed to all the information that is out there in order to make an informed decision. The author believes that in many woman's studies courses, much important information is being withheld. | | | | I WANTED FACTS, NOT TO BE SOLD ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. Do you like spin? THIS BOOK IS A JOKE!! Aug 30, 2008 |
It Pushes Non Relevant Republican Ideals like ALL WOMEN SHOULD WANT SMALLER GOVERNMENT and AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE IS BAD. i skimmed the book for 20 minutes and noticed the overuse of 1 in 4's and 1 in 3's but no percentages or real numbers and bizarre methods of presenting them like they are trying to make the numbers smaller or bigger depending on which way they want to get you to lean.
Then I came across that chapter pushing other republican ideals and the book is now being used as kittie litter. And The Footnotes Are All Right Wing Groups or Neutral Institutions, No Left groups are included unless its to mock a comment of theirs. I WANTED FACTS, NOT TO BE SOLD ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. THIS BOOK IS A JOKE!!! WHY ELSE WOULD IT SELL FOR $1 or less!!! did G.W. Bush and Pat Robertson write this?
i feel like an idiot for buying this book. few facts and a lot of spin and hidden agenda. they put middle ground comments in the book to play neutral but with what they say after and the "facts" and "information" they give there is an obvious contradiction to the middle ground tone. they set you up to trust what they say and open your mind to them and then one paragraph later you somehow hate womens rights groups and think G.W. isnt really that bad of a president. then you check the footnotes for their "facts" and you see they are just laying the trap to pull you in. quotes by famous people are re-quoted by other people to be quoted in the book. why couldnt they use the actual quote from the famous person? not enough spin on it for them

Perhaps a book needs to be written calling out the feminist movement for running from freedom and denying the lessons of history. But, swooning for an imaginary world of the authors making where women are free but accept none of the results of freedom does nothing for the discussion.
The author takes the arguments of feminist extremism and counteracts it with further extremism without understanding the results of her views. The saddest part is that the book will mostly be embraced by Western women who are the beneficaries of a better life because of the rejection of the very ideas in this book. Im sure all the muslim countries where women are REALLY victims will applaud this nonsensical book. Im sure all the intellectualy imprisioned women in the western USA's polygamist sects will applaud this nonsense.
Having said this, it is a positive that some foolish statements of modern feminism are questioned....such as work place sexism and the irrational womens study programs in universitys.
But in summary, This book is no better than the worst of what it challenges. It is just more reactionary drival. | | | | Thank you, Carrie Lukas! Jun 1, 2008 |
Thank you, Carrie Lukas! Thanks for coming out with an overview of feminism that "The Today Show", that liberal cable news channels, that public colleges, and that even women socializing with their friends will not admit: feminism is dangerous and deceitful.
Mrs. Lukas has the courage to say things like.... men and women's brains work differently (Chapter 1); casual sex is damaging to women both physically and emotionally (Chapter 3); safe sex is not so safe (Chapter 5); children of divorce suffer serious consequences from being raised by a broken family (Chapter 8); postponing childbearing may make the proposition of having children difficult or impossible altogether (Chapter 9); and - my personal favorite - research suggests that children with parents as primary caregivers are better off than those in full-time daycare, and that the government pushes families into using institutional daycare, which has been proven to be the worst form of childcare. Mrs. Lukas does not simply spew her opinions: a well-educated writer, she backs up her points with plenty of statistics and factual support. And she even pays props to opinions which oppose hers.
I wish I had Mrs. Lukas' courage to speak-out as unapologetically on issues in which I believe. I see so many women my age - in their mid 30's - buying into the lies that are detailed in this book. These women suffer, their husbands suffer, and their children suffer on a daily basis. Granted, bosses and professors and news anchors are happy. But consequences are being felt by families who choose to accept feminist rhetoric. I would highly recommend "The PIG to Women, Sex, and Feminism" to any sound-minded, truth-seaking woman. | | | | Yet Another, Dangerous Book May 23, 2008 |
I think that this book is disgusting and Carrie Lukas is yet another hypocritcal, anti-woman scholar. She is a graduate of Princeton and Harvard University, has worked in government and writes for national publications. She also has a family. Guess what. She "has it all".
None of the above would be possible for MS. Lukas (or is it Mrs. Lukas?) if it werent for the "radical" womens' movements, which she so deplores.
Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham and others can join MRS. Lukas' attacks against women who made their lifestyles possible.
Also, the book is hysterical. MRS. Lukas is one of those women who believes that women are born without libidos and that patriarchal systems don't exist anymore? One would have to be incredibly stupid to believe any of the jibberish she spews in this book.
Carrie Lukas and others are spokeswomen for Freudian misogyny. But since they, are themselves, women, they can claim pure objectivity. This is certainly not the case. Throughout history it has been women like MRS. Lukas and others who have held women back, moreso than men.
I might be able to take MRS. Lukas' "book" seriously if she actually practiced what she preached. But as it stands, none of "them" have so far. | | | Write your own review about The Politically Incorrect Guide(tm) to Women, Sex and Feminism
